Estimating Manager required for a leading Social Housing Contractor in the Midlands. This is arguably one of the strongest sustainable development team in the industry having recently joined forces with the existing Construction team. They mainly specialise within the Extra Care marker for Local Authorities and enjoy a healthy £300m turnover per annum,
As Estimating Manager you will:
• Lead the pricing process for all opportunities
• Have knowledge and application of first principles estimating
• Have an in depth knowledge of the local market in terms of customers, employers agents, competition, rates and prices
• Be proactive in finding innovative solutions to winning work
• Lead a small team of estimators
• Provide training and technical support to estimating staff
• Undertake project take-off's effectively and efficiently with a high degree of commercial and technical knowledge
• Ability to identify and advise on key technical construction issues and processes
• Produce high level cost plans and detailed cost plans providing quick turnaround advice for our customers
• Maintain records and historical data as reference for Cost Plan preparation and checking future Control Documents
• Establish and administer departmental document control systems
About the Person
You will have a detailed knowledge of all estimating functions, principally within the social housing sector. You will have a proven track record in a similar role, a high level of construction knowledge and technical ability as well as being computer literate and numerate. Excellent Microsoft Excel skills are essential and a knowledge of Conquest is desirable. Ideally you will have, or will be working towards, a professional qualification (either MCIOB or MRICS).
The guideline salary for this role is £50k - £60k with a grade 5 car allowance which is £7,500.
