- New Build Site Manager required for a Social Housing contractor who are based in the Birmingham area. This company forms part of a national group who turnover in excess of £2.5billion. Typically areas of expertise include new build mixed tenure and decent homes contracts.
Moving forward into 2010 they are looking to secure larger scale regeneration
Schemes involving commercial, leisure and retail components. The company believes that
the division should be relatively sheltered from the impact of the credit crunch in the
housing market, as open market sales traditionally represent only 30% of the division’s
revenues.
The role will be for a new build development in Coventry and you will need to demonstrate consistent project delivery of schemes over £5million. They do have a decent homes division but only candidates who are new build biased will be considered.
Duties will include: Commitment to creating a zero incident Health & Safety culture and ensure compliance on site of all SHE Policies. Communicate effectively with production staff and sub-contractors to achieve projects objectives. Review financial decisions and implement actions to maximise profit, issue site instruction for the commercial team and input into risk/opportunities register. Review design drawings for buildability and co-ordination. Raise RFI where appropriate.
Develop and maintain good relationships with design team, customer and supply chain.
Promote and uphold the companies values and brand. Manage sub-contractors on site to work safely and economically, by co-ordination of all rules.

- Lead Project Manager required for North Midlands BSF Scheme due to start September 2010.
Candidates must have previous experience building, refurbishing or extending primary or secondary schools ideally in a PFI or BSF nature.
It is important that candidates have a strong design & build background as you will be expected to drive the design process, lead and manage the design team on site, manage the architects and assess the overall buildability of each project.
Duties will consist of:
• Using leadership skills to ensure a zero incident health & safety culture, implementing all regulatory health & safety
• Supporting and encouraging the development of team members, motivating them to meet objectives
• Delivering the project or scheme to the agreed returns, to budget, both safely and on time
• Ensuring that all contract administration / procedures are undertaken
• Controlling and managing project / site budgets including profit and loss, and managing budget constraints
• Implementing detailed programmes which allow accurate monitoring and reporting
• Pre-construction ownership of specific tenders
• Managing site logistics and communication plan
• Securing appropriate resources to deliver the project / scheme
Candidates must demonstrate good all round knowledge of NEC, JCT and PPC2000 forms of contract. MCIOB is also desirable.
This BSF scheme will include three new academies circa £24m each and include minor cut & carve.

My client is seeking a cost planner to join their highly successful pre-construction team. The company specialise in high end value construction projects within the public and private sectors. The company are market leaders and are highly successful.
As the cost planner you will be accountable for all financial inputs into the project cost plan and be able to price/produce cost plans from concept information. Present for tender adjudication, prepare and submit tender and follow up, gather information and maintain cost planning information and prepare cost plans as and when required, work in conjunction with the design managers in developing the design in accordance with the cost plan. Produce Estimation of prelims, analysis of cost data on live projects, support the project teams with change control & major variations, and take off quantities from design information.
Applicants should have estimating / cost planning experience with a medium to large contractor and had exposure to working on complex tenders in excess of £10m
