New FM specialist Sam Norton brings 8 years’ experience to PSR

Armed with 8 year’s hands-on experience in the Property Management, Estates and FM sectors, Sam Norton joins PSR Solutions at an exciting time of growth and expansion.

Having recently opened its doors to a construction recruitment hub in Dubai, undergone a move to larger offices in London and poised any day soon to move into its impressive new Midlands headquarters (having outgrown its current space), PSR has appointed experienced Sam to help achieve its FM targets as set out in its 10-year plan recently unveiled at the company away-day at St Georges Park.

Coming from an extensive background of Property and Estates Management, most recently having spent 6 years with St Philips Care Homes Ltd, Sam brings deep knowledge and understanding of the requirements of property management including planning, forecasting, cost management, auditing, compliance and recruitment.

Over the years, Sam has formed strong networks with contractors and suppliers to the sector and has played a pivotal role in selection, recruitment, training and induction of maintenance staff at hundreds of estates throughout the UK and some overseas too.  Whilst delivering individual & group training Sam continually monitored site compliance status, implementing improvements where required and continually worked alongside local fire authorities, the HSE, CQC and numerous other governing bodies.

What are you most excited about?

“The challenge of setting up an FM division within a well-established recruitment organisation.  I’m aiming to build a successful team through consistently providing a high service-level to both candidates and clients within
the FM sector. ”

The biggest challenge

Having worked in the FM sector, Sam is fully aware of staff shortages throughout the industry. He sees the biggest challenge facing the industry is that of finding a way to ensure not only the quantity of FM candidates is addressed but that the quality of them isn’t compromised in doing so.

Why PSR?
Sam is a passionate and accomplished FM professional who is looking forward to being able to implement his expertise to meet the staffing demands of PSR’s growing client and candidate base.  He is particularly keen to ensure that our candidates maximise on the clear career progression opportunities within the FM sector, something that resonates personally with him. He says…

To date Sam feels that his finest career moment has been project managing and completing the development of a derelict hospital in the Scottish Borders, converting it into 18 x 2/3-bed residential dwellings. The project was carried out at a cost of £1,365,000 and took just over 3 years, it was completed £180,000 under project and was recently valued at £2.68m.
