Job description

My client is a design-build contractor who have been in business for over 60 years. They are an international business and carry out work across all sectors. They are currently in the market for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor for a New Build development in Salford, Greater Manchester worth in excess of £25M.

Duties;

As Assistant Quantity Surveyor you will assist the commercial team with the procurement of work packages, subcontract management/administration, administering of the main contract, risk management and feeding into the project CVR and monthly reporting process. This role will require a passion for first class delivery, implementing best practice and continuous improvement and promoting the business externally.

Responsibilities;

  • Assist in the management of the contract cost reporting.
  • Assist in preparation of cash flows forecasts for sub-contractor payments
  • Assist in the preparation of accurate forecasts of project costs to completion and final value.
  • Assist with the preparation of sub-contract documentation.
  • Prepare payment certificates for sub-contract work.
  • Assist with the valuation of variations.
  • Assist with the preparation of claims.
  • Assist with the preparation of interim application for payments.
  • Assist in the preparation of accurate monthly cost reports.
  • Identify potential risk and opportunities to the project commercial lead.

Experience;

  • Site based experience on a similar project.
  • Subcontractor management.
  • Subcontractor administration.
  • Experience within the most current forms of procurement.
  • Detailed knowledge of codes of practice and other regulatory material.
  • Numeracy and bid/report wring.

Qualification / Health & Safety Requirements

  • Relevant Professional Qualification in Quantity Surveying or similar (BSc level or equivalent) or working towards.
  • A valid CSCS card is a requirement.

Detailed knowledge of codes of practice and other regulatory material. Numeracy and bid/report wring. Capable of taking ownership of tasks and communicating outcomes with clarity. Strong work ethics. Holds a current driving (desirable). Demonstrates a passion and excitement for his/her work. Tackles problems head-on and resolves without delay. Shares knowledge, ideas and expertise with others.
