Job description

My client is an international family run business with over 100 years in the construction industry. The company carry out work across all sectors. Due to company growth an opportunity has arisen for a Bid Writer to join their team in the Midlands.

As Bid Writer you will report into the Pre-Construction Manager and provide support to the Pre-Construction team in providing creative and commercial solutions to bid requirements. Producing professional written bids to clients and consultant's exact expectations in line with the companies brand, position and processes. Other duties will include;
  • Complete comprehensive reviews of client documentation, to ensure a full understanding of win themes, customer needs and develop tailored responses accordingly
  • Consider all aspects of respective tender requirements and ensuring bid proposals capture key elements, translating win strategies and business objectives into smart, compelling, consistent, customer-focused, error-free documents and escalating risk to bid leader/board where required.
  • Proactively conduct market research and competitor analysis to develop win strategies and bid plans, bring ideas and fresh thinking to the department and to identify future opportunities and leads.
  • Assist with the preparation of contract proposals
  • Assist in developing a strong Bid and Estimating strategy
  • Develop strong supply chain relationships for future tenders/opportunities


Skills and Experience:
  • Strong attention to detail with emphasis on quality, error free bid writing
  • Experience in using Microsoft packages
  • Ability to work within a team environment or as an individual with minimal supervision
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and work to strict deadlines
  • Ability to communicate and present finalised work to senior management confidently and succinctly
  • Enthusiastic, self-motivated and driven
  • Comfortable communicating with clients and consultants in a clear and professional manner
