Job description

PSR Solutions are currently looking to recruit a design manager who will initially champion my client into BIM certification to level 2.

Key Responsibilities:
  • To lead/Champion towards BIM level 2 certification
  • To maintain BIM policy and certification following level 2 certification
  • Management of the appointed designer against programme and budget
  • Ensure design is produced in accordance with relevant standards and client requirements
  • Management of design through the client's approval system (previous DIO experience would be advantageous)
  • Maximising the commercial opportunities presented to the company during the design and construction phases
  • Champion of value engineering and maximising company's research & development tax credits (R&D Tax claims)
  • Ensuring the design process recognises current legislation, standards and codes of practice where appropriate
  • Striving to eliminate health and safety risks in the design, promote buildability/best construction methods and financial risks during construction
  • Organising design workshops with the clients and operational team to champion the design process
  • Preparation and delivery of handover documentation and records
  • Supporting, understanding and advising the construction team as to the requirements and obligations in the development of the design
  • Preparation of design briefs
  • Identification and management of temporary works with the site team
  • Coordination of designs between joint venture partners
  • Preparation of reports to support the design and construction teams


Key skills required:
  • Good forward planning
  • Knowledge of Civil Engineering, Construction and an understanding of Utilities
  • Technical/design background
  • A good understand of BIM processes and procedures
  • In-depth knowledge of all aspects of a construction projects
  • Knowledge of software including AutoCad and BIM (Building Information Modelling) advantageous
  • Good communication and people skills
  • Excellent motivational and leadership skills
  • Work well under pressure
  • Able access commercial and risk management in to the design process
  • Ability to present ideas effectively
  • Able to evaluate ideas of others
  • Ability to deal with change
