Job description

Role Overview:

My client are seeking an enthusiastic and driven individual to lead the promotion, development and delivery of BIM implementation across Infrastructure and on allocated projects, which will include assistance with the document control and management of information in the Common Data Environment and managing compliance of Project BIM standards.

The individual appointed will take ownership and responsibility for BIM management, working in close collaboration with colleagues across the Construction & Investments Division, within IDS, with operational business units, with academia and with our supply chain



Key Responsibilities:

Key responsibilities of the individual will be:

General
  • Manage the BIM process in terms of development and implementation, taking into account the company BIM processes and protocols
  • Actively contribute to the development and improvement of BIM processes and protocols
  • Actively liaise with other BIM leads in the GT business and represent business unit on BIM related matters
  • Actively explore and pursue connections between BIM and the on-site activities, enhancing the awareness of its capabilities and encouraging interaction and use
  • Stay informed on innovations and best practices
  • Share knowledge and experiences amongst Infrastructure business units through briefings/demonstrations, training workshops and schedules of lessons learnt.


Software
  • For Infrastructure-specific application, identify and manage software products including but not limited to incorporating new version releases and customization of the product
  • Manage the implementation of supporting software for BIM within Infrastructure, including training
  • Evaluate new BIM related software and technologies specific to Infrastructure
  • Stay informed on best practices for use of Revit Architecture and BIM
  • Stay informed on other BIM related software and how they work with Revit




Standards
  • Responsible for BIM standards development, implementation, and enforcement within Infrastructure
  • Assist in cross C&I development and application of BIM documentation and workflow process standards
  • Train and oversee the day-to-day activities of the BIM practitioners to ensure BIM standards are maintained


Management:

Set-up
  • Lead in the development, implementation and maintaining of Project BIM Execution Plans (BEP)
  • Lead and act as a first line of contact on technical and process issues associated with the BIM delivery
  • Lead in the identification of capability shortfalls in the project team (skills, resource, hardware, software) reporting finding


Design Development
  • Manage the co-ordination of the information between the interested parties
  • Lead the development and production of project BIM deliverables programmes that align with contract requirements and project programmes
  • Take responsibility for the arranging, running and recording of BIM Co-ordination Workshops and Model Co-ordination meetings. Compile individual discipline models/design information and federate into multi-disciplinary model information. Arrange for appropriate clash reports to design out clashes in the model (virtual) environment managing and recording their closure
  • Establish and implement quality control procedures to check and monitor the accuracy and completeness of data entries and the 'Level of Development' (LOD) being produced by designers against the project protocol
  • Record and monitor shared data and relationships between models ie shared project co-ordinates, levels, grids
  • Manage any transfers of model element ownership so there is a clear understanding and ownership record at any time
  • Lead in the development of alternative approaches relating to time (4D) and commercial (5D) - including creation of linked construction programme and model, and the extraction of quantities to assist QS commercial control
  • Engage with site team and where of assistance arrange the setting - up and sharing of views, sections and walk-throughs within the models that will enhance their understanding of the build requirements and help support health and safety initiatives
  • Lead the integration and co-ordination of supply chain information into the BIM environment
  • Report on the progress of BIM for project Design Team Meetings, Contract Review Meetings and Client Progress Meetings




Handover
  • Carry out validation checks on the model for handover, that they contain the agreed level of information and in the format required
  • Make arrangements for the final production of the as-built model deliverables, including data filesTraining
  • Internal Training: Provide relevant training to staff
  • Conduct internal continuing education
  • Maintain high level of competency of software through continued use and training
  • Attend conferences, seminars, and workshops for BIM; bringing back learning and disseminating the information to appropriate teams




The ideal candidate, preferably degree qualified and with a background in the construction sector, should have:
