Assistant Quantity Surveyor

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established contractor specialising in residential construction, particularly in both new build social housing and refurbishment projects. The company has a strong reputation for delivering high-quality housing solutions in partnership with local authorities and housing associations across the region.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in preparing accurate cost estimates and budgets for residential projects, focusing on new build social housing and refurbishment work.
• Support the Senior Quantity Surveyor in managing project finances, including cost control, procurement, and contract administration.
• Conduct site visits to monitor progress, verify measurements, and ensure cost accuracy.
• Prepare and review tender documents, contracts, and subcontracts.
• Assist in negotiating and managing agreements with subcontractors.
• Monitor project expenditures, identify risks, and suggest cost-saving measures.
• Prepare interim valuations and final accounts.
• Ensure compliance with relevant industry regulations and standards.
• Maintain detailed records of project financials and report regularly to senior management.

Requirements:

• Previous experience as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, ideally in residential construction with a focus on new build social housing and refurbishments.
• Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and relevant legislation.
• Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
• Proficiency in relevant software (e.g., Microsoft Office, project management, and quantity surveying tools).
• Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
• Willingness to travel to project sites within Birmingham, Coventry, and Warwick.
