Job description

Our client, a people focussed residential developer is looking for an experienced, passionate Design & Planning Manager to join and lead a busy Design & Planning team

This is a full-time position where you will be responsible for the delivery of Design & Planning commitments. You will be responsible for the overall Design & Planning function of the Technical department.

Design and Planning Manager Key Responsibilities -

  • Manage the Planning process for each of site, from application right through to project completion.
  • Advise on the appointment of consultants.
  • Ensure consultants prepare detailed design in accordance with LPA requirements where necessary, Employers Requirements and Contractors Proposals.
  • Manage and review the design development process ensuring value engineering and buildability are considered.
  • Ensure timely registration with warranty providers such as NHBC and Building Regulation Application.
  • To ensure timely completion and issue of technical assessments, CfSH/BREEAM information, warranties, certificates
  • To ensure timely registration with warranty providers i.e. NHBC, Robust Details and Building Regulation Application.
  • Review design development to allow construction of works to follow safety working practices and be in accordance with current legislation, Group Policy and Procedures.
  • Provide Production teams with complete working drawing packages and Technical support to Site Management and Sub-Contractors with details, site queries with regard to all Technical issues.
  • Regular site visits and reports to ensure construction is in accordance with specifications and details.
  • Provide fully checked and co-ordinated design packages for Budget, Tender and Construction purposes

Competencies -

  • Construction/design related further education.
  • Relevant CSCS card
  • Social/affordable Housing site, private housing extra care accommodation
  • Traditional construction and Timber frame construction
  • Experienced in AutoCAD
  • Proven ability of delivering design for projects on time, to budget and quality standards with high customer satisfaction results.
  • Commercially astute.
  • Excellent time management skills with ability to multi task.
  • A methodical decision maker
  • Able to lead and work as a team member.

During the lockdown period this will be a work from home position, post covid this will be office based due to the team leading responsibilities.
