PSR are recruiting for a Design Coordinator to join a successful main building contractor that operate in the East Midlands region. Projects range from £10m - £100m in varied sectors meaning you will get the opportunity to work on some of the UK's most diverse and exciting construction projects.

Role Overview:

You will be responsible for the management of the design on a specific bid or project and effectively manage the design process to comply with the policies and procedures contained within the BMS governance systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act on behalf of the Design Manager to ensure the project meets with the criteria set by the BMS governance system, the project director and complies with the client's brief and expectations
  • Identify design requirements for the bid from the clients brief
  • Research and advise on suitability of products, components and services to the project team
  • Assess the design team or undertake appropriate checks
  • Assist in the Appointment of the design team, agree schedules of responsibilities and fee agreements for services/design deliverable and resourcing requirements
  • Assist in the Management of the Design Team, the design development and design review process by setting up and operating the system for the administration and control of design information
  • Manage and monitor performance of consultants to liaise with Statutory Bodies or Statutory Authorities for compliance sign off
  • Undertake regular site inspections to make sure the built product meets design intent and take appropriate action if not
  • Manage and monitor design delivery against agreed deliverable dates, and report to Head of Design / Design Manger on performance issues
  • Convene and chair Design Team meetings and ensure an appropriate record of action points is recorded, distributed and monitored to conclusion
  • Attend site meetings

Experience and Qualifications:
  • Applicants will need to demonstrate a good base level of technical knowledge, including a good working knowledge of the Building Regulations, Planning and relevant funding criteria for build projects
  • The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate sound construction related experience and will have a 'can do' attitude
  • Holding the relevant chartered Membership of a Professional Institute or working towards gaining membership
