Position: Design Coordinator, West Midlands

Salary: £35,000 - 45,000 + Car / Car allowance + Pension + Health

My client is seeking an office based Design Coordinator. The organisation is a Regional Main Building contractor who has a reputation in delivering high quality schemes ranging from £250K to £5M. The company carry out work across all sectors; however their reputation is strong in the sectors of Commercial, Student Accommodation, Retail and Education.

The selected candidate will report into the Design Manager. This applicant should also be able to demonstrate their commercial and contractual awareness. Early engagement with the client will be necessary, to advise correctly, ensuring the design is developed satisfactorily. Within the job role, it would be the responsibility of the Design Coordinator to produce the highest quality design against cost restraints.



Duties & Core Competences will include:
  • Proven design coordinating skills
  • Coordination of design teams including architects, engineers, sub-contractors and other consultants
  • Identifying risks and opportunities during the early stages of projects to maximise quality and value
  • Building close relationships with local authorities and Statutory Services
  • Chairing design team meetings and managing progress including issuing minutes
  • Control design processes
  • Commercial awareness and control on site
  • Experience of working with BIM or understanding of the software would be an advantage, but not a prerequisite for the position
  • Awareness of programme constraints and driving works to meet targets
