Senior Design Manager - Roles and Responsibilities

  • Manage the interface with external or in-house design teams on behalf of the Project Manager.

  • Represent the design department at internal and external meetings and act as the main point of contact in the absence of the Design Engineer.

  • Liaise with other departments and project teams to align on design requirements.

  • Allocate and supervise design tasks within internal teams, ensuring performance standards are met.

  • Prepare conceptual and detailed designs in compliance with current legislation, standards, and codes.

  • Review and check the design work of team members and external consultants.

  • Visit project sites when necessary to ensure alignment between design and site execution.

  • Maintain design documentation, contribute to pricing, and manage feedback and records.

  • Support and coach staff, conduct appraisals, and identify training and development needs.

  • Ensure all work complies with company procedures, health & safety standards, and quality requirements.


Senior Design Manager - Requirements

  • Degree in a relevant engineering or construction discipline, or equivalent experience.

  • Minimum of 5 years (with degree) or 10 years (with HND/HNC) construction and design experience.

  • Strong Design Management skills with the ability to handle complex design and planning issues.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project.

  • Valid CSCS card appropriate for site-based work.

  • Completion (or commitment to complete) industry and company-standard training, including health & safety, leadership, and inclusion modules.

  • Must have Main Contracting industrial expereince.
