Job description

Main purpose of role:

To provide safe, practical and economic designs to a high standard of professional competence in line with HS2 expectations and in compliance with the JVs procedures. To effectively manage the relationship and performance of the projects retained design partner, DJV.

Key responsibilities and duties:
  • Review with the project team, the roles and responsibilities of the consultants and specialists. Confirm the scope of services required and formalise the Design Responsibilities matrix
  • Contribute to the production of the Design and Procurement Programme by the planning and resourcing function. Identify and agree the design deliverables required and ensure effective processes are in place for reporting design progress
  • Ensure information flow, including RFIs/TQs is maintained to all relevant parties and that comments / approvals are received and returned to document / query originator within the specified comments / approval periods. Ensure issues such as coordination and package interfaces are being addressed and that each party is amending their work as the design progresses
  • Contribute to the procurement process, including scope definitions and agree and expedite the design team's package deliverables. Review returns for compliance, buildability, quality and value engineering opportunities
  • Ensure design information is reviewed before it is issued to achieve compliance with HS2, Joint Venture & Statutory requirements. Ensure appropriate, timely arrangements for obtaining Client, statutory approvals (incl. discharge) and other necessary approvals with retention by the Joint Venture of relevant documentation
  • Ensure critical quality and tolerance issues are identified to the construction package managers as installation progresses
  • Expedite designers and trade contractors contributions to the project Health & Safety file / Operation & Maintenance Manuals
