Job description

My client is an international company spanning over 100 years in the construction industry. They have a respectable turnover and carry out work across all sectors. They have ambitious growth plans and an opportunity has arisen for an Estimator to join their team in the Midlands.

Reporting to the Pre-construction Manager, you will assist the Senior Estimator and be responsible for tenders and live 2 stage projects, the role could see you looking after a number of packages on large projects worth in excess of £50M or as the sole Estimator on smaller schemes. This role would also suit an Assistant Estimator, looking to take the next step in their career.

Other duties will involve;
  • Attend pre-construction and construction site visits.
  • Manage the production of enquiry schedules for packages from the tender documentation, drawings and specifications issued.
  • Manage the preparation of enquiry documents
  • Identify the tender deliverables required from the project designers.
  • Manage the preparation and issuing of RFI's to the Client
  • Evaluates and issues RFI responses
  • Evaluate returned quotations from suppliers and where necessary enters into correspondence with suppliers to bring quotations in line with the project specification requirements
  • Prepare cost evaluations and risk probability
  • Arrange Tender Handover meetings
  • Prepares commercial documents for tender handover to projects team


Skills and Experience:
  • HNC/HNC/Degree related to the business division.
  • Demonstration of knowledge and practical application of planning and construction activities.
  • Computer literate with a good working knowledge of Microsoft packages, including Microsoft Project.
  • You will be able to demonstrate a high level of construction knowledge
  • You will be an ambitious individual, take pride in what you produce, have good communication, organisation and leadership skills and will enjoy being on site.
