The Company

I have an exciting new opportunity for an experienced Estimator to join a reputable Principal Civil Engineering Contractor who are based in Cheshire.

The business who operate through a series of networked office, have a group turnover of £1bn. They are a well-established contractor who have delivered Major Infrastructure Projects throughout the UK.

Reporting to the Chief Estimator, you will be responsible for tenders to the value of £30M and managing a number of packages.

As the Estimator, You will be responsible for:
  • Attending the Tender Launch, Review and Settlement Meetings
  • The mark up of specialist subcontractor and supplier enquiries.
  • Production and pricing of a project specific Value Engineering Schedule
  • Production and pricing of a project specific Opportunity and Risk Schedule
  • Post tender variations and negotiations
  • Preparing and submitting quotations for work.
  • Formal handover to the Production and Quantity Surveying Team
  • Analysing company data, exchange rates and prices using relevant software packages;
  • Preparing and submitting quotations for work.
  • Helping with bids for new contracts and supporting buying activities and enquiry management
  • Monitoring the stages of a project to make sure that costs are kept in line with forecasts.
  • Researching materials, equipment and labour costs
  • Gathering quotes from sub-contractors and suppliers
  • Assessing the levels of risk on a project




Qualifications/Skills

  • HNC / HND / Degree in Quantity Surveying / Construction Management / related to the business division
  • Commercially astute in infrastructure delivery
  • Computer literate with a good working knowledge of Microsoft packages
  • You will be able to demonstrate a high level of construction knowledge
  • You will be an ambitious individual, take pride in what you produce and have good communication, organisation and leadership skills.
