Position: Freelance Planner

Job Description

My client is a Blue Chip, well-regarded Main Contractor who are currently working on some high-profile and exciting projects in the North West with a very strong pipeline and are recruiting a Freelance Planner to join their team.

As the Freelance Planner, you will be involved from the tender stages through to project completion.

The position is based in Wigan and is initially 1-2 months, however could go on for a lot longer.

My client would take someone part time.

Key Responsibilities

The initial purpose of the role is to turn around a tender within 3 weeks. Then moving onto another New Build Project.

  • Working as part of project team, but with dual role as independent assessor of progress, giving confidence in project status to senior management
  • Ensuring the company procedures and planning standards are being implemented
  • Contributing to the capturing of output rates to ensure company database remains current and competitive
  • Liaison with broader planning community, especially technical department
  • Line Management of less senior planners
  • Ensuring compliance with all Quality, Safety and Environmental requirements

It is essential that you have
  • Significant experience of construction projects across a broad range of sectors
  • Ability to manage multiple project programmes running in parallel
  • Demonstrate knowledge of all aspects of development; design, procurement, construction (structure, architecture, services), commissioning
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to quickly and clearly articulate key issues and to listen and capture concerns of others
  • Use of specialist planning software (ideally Primavera and Asta)
  • Knowledge of the key features of common forms of contract entered into in UK
