Mechanical Design Engineer

Hertfordshire

£50/65k + Package

PSR Solutions are currently recruiting a Mechanical Design Engineer for an M&E sub-contractor based in Hertfordshire with a t/o in excess of £16m. They specialise in commercial projects up to £2m M&E

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop HVAC philosophies and design working drawings
  • Prepare feasibility studies and assist with budgeting
  • Liaise with clients design team to ensure a collaborative project is delivered.
  • Perform airflow/water, soil & waste flow calculations and duct/pipe sizing activities
  • Prepare airflow and water flow diagrams and schematics
  • Prepare equipment schedules, specification for plant, ductwork, pipework and associated datasheets
  • Undertake and compile technical requisitions and specifications for HVAC equipment such as fan coil units, air handling units, supply fan and extract fans, refrigeration AC, chilled water and heating systems, potable domestic water systems, water heater, cold water boosted systems, grilles, louvres, attenuators and air ductwork ventilation systems
  • Prepare controls and BMS work scopes
  • Provide effective supervision and technical guidance to an assigned team
  • Plan, organise and manage workload to ensure it is completed in line with project schedules and man hour budgets
  • Ensure technical correctness of discipline deliverables and compliance with client specifications and project standards.
  • Design compilation in line with all relevant codes and standards

Experience / Qualifications:

  • Substantial engineering and design experience in HVAC applications within the built environment
  • Experience using relevant software packages such as Revit, HEVACOMP and AutoCAD
  • Relevant degree qualification, ideally chartered but not necessary
  • At least 5 years' experience in a similar role
  • Good leadership skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • A key interest in engineering and the built environment
