Newton Le-Willows

What is the purpose of this role?
  • To work closely with the client to ensure smooth operations on the motorway and trunk road network in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire by liaising with Highways Maintenance crews, third party sub-contractors and the clients own Network Control Centre (NCC).
  • You will be responsible for organising the swift resolution to any highways incidents by deploying Maintenance & Response crews.
  • You will agree quotes for works and ensure data is accurately recorded and monitored, also providing feedback to the client using a variety of systems and software.
  • You will need to have a good understanding of our contractual requirements to ensure we meet our performance measures, whilst offering excellent customer service.

What will this role involve?
  • Schedule and co-ordination of emergency and urgent works
  • Ensure correct use of systems and "right first time" methods are adopted
  • Work within the guidelines of the Incident Response Plan and have a working understanding of the contractual requirements
  • Maximise productivity of resources through reduction in wasted time, materials and operational costs
  • Manage activities of gangs/operations in line with contract timescales and commercial contracts
  • Co-ordination with Maintenance & Response Supervisors
  • Liaison with emergency services
  • Represent Amey and act as a focal point within the NCC for the Client, keeping them updated on activity as appropriate and in line with performance targets
  • Carry out a comprehensive handover with the previous shift and ensure that all outstanding issues and incidents are monitored in alignment with contractual SLA's
  • Feedback issues to the Data Manager and work with key personnel to ensure NCC shift outputs are optimised
  • Be accountable for gathering accurate information for Hot and Cold incident debriefs
  • Work with Amey's core values and adopt a LEAN method of working
  • Review of captured data for quality and accuracy of data
  • Deliver and continuously improve service levels
  • Attend Conference Calls & meetings when required

What are we looking for?
  • Understanding of LEAN principles
  • Working practice of Amey's core values - PACE
  • Knowledge of databases and proven IT skills (training will be provided)
  • Knowledge of Chapter 8 Traffic Management
  • Analytical

  • Experience of working in a Control Room Environment preferred
  • Experience of working on a Highways Maintenance contract preferred
  • Understanding of emergency and winter service operations
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Experience of planning/co-ordination
  • Ability to prioritis
