Job description

Role: Planner

Location: Birmingham

Salary: £57,500 - £62,500 + Comprehensive benefit package

Area of works: Major Projects - Highways

Responsibilities

  • Provide detailed support and assistance to the project in order to enable the team to monitor pinch-points on the critical path and test and change logic where previously agreed to either improve upon the baseline programme or to mitigate potential delays.
  • Produce construction programme for change event quotation
  • Manage and incorporate change events into the construction programme and jointly with the commercial team, secure full entitlement under the contract.
  • Give support to delivery site team alongside Project Manager
  • Ensure management are made aware at the earliest opportunity of any activities which is becoming near critical or likely to become critical.
  • Work closely with the site operation team to ensure that they are clear on programme demands, notifying management of any activities which are becoming near critical at the earliest opportunity.
  • Produce reports and programme commentary to customers on particular reporting requirements.
  • Attend progress meetings and deliver presentation on project progress.
  • Input to the risk management process
  • Take overall responsibility for Performance Indicators applicable to planning and programming.
  • Manage and monitor requirements and report monthly.

Competencies

  • Extensive knowledge of use of both Microsoft Project and Primavera P6 Planning software.
  • Experience in programme and project management, project planning, including programme controls, project review, and cost and risk analysis.
  • Ability to deliver major project planning to demanding deadlines .
  • Able to interpret and convert information from data and produce it in a clear and logical format.
  • Extensive Highways experience and exposure to varying Highways-based projects.
  • Ability to plan construction works from first principles, preferably with experience in multi-discipline major projects.
  • Possess excellent organisational planning and time management ability, with the ability to prioritise workload and meet tight deadlines across multiple schemes.
  • Demonstrates solid communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex concepts both orally and in written form.

The Candidate

  • Educated to professional level with a relevant degree or equivalent in a core business discipline.
  • Detailed working knowledge of both Microsoft Project and Primavera P6
