Job description

My client is a National contractor who undertake an array of Design & Build projects including, commercial, industrial, mixed use and student accommodation schemes throughout the UK. They have become one of the most successful and respected names in the building, property development and construction industry and a vacancy has arisen for Procurement Quantity Surveyor to join their procurement team.

Duties;

Reporting to the Procurement Director, you will be working your duties will include;
  • Measure quantities from drawings
  • Issue detailed tender enquiries
  • Analyse and negotiate most competitive tenders based on cost, programme, performance and quality
  • Submit detailed tender analysis to Procurement Director for approval
  • Monitor and review procurement - including placing subcontract orders and ensure they arrive accurately presented, checked, on-time and within budget
  • Ensure all subcontract orders are signed and returned by the subcontractor in a timely manner
  • Instruct the issue of warrantee documents to the appropriate subcontractors
  • Attend post tender, pre-start, management and design team meetings
  • Share information with colleagues to encourage flow of information
  • Working to deadlines set by the Procurement Director and others within the team
  • Ensure continuous communication with other team members to review contract progress and address immediately associated issues
  • Attending site weekly (or as required) to review issues including providing solutions and advice to ensure successful project completion
  • Identify and review key performance indicators with Procurement Director
  • Ensure filing of site project correspondence is maintained
  • Review adjustment to costs to be pursued on old contracts
  • Identify training needs of team members and liaise with Training Manager


Experience;
  • You will already be experienced in working for a main contractor,
  • You will be to level of NVQ 4, Degree, HND, HNC or equivalent experience,
  • Able to read and interpret drawings,
  • Have the ability to carry out standard take offs,
  • Developing negotiation skills in order to negotiate best value packages
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
  • Working knowledge of building regulations
  • Basic knowledge of word and excel
