Job description

We are looking for someone to provide project management and deliver assurance to the business enabling it to meet its operational and long- term objectives. You will need to ensure that projects are delivered according to best practise project management techniques and standards appropriate to the type and scale of projects and delivered to the identified business benefits. Projects are to be delivered in accordance with all technical, health, safety, environmental, quality and security requirements and that they comply with all the legislative, statutory financial and company requirements. You will need to work in partner with the Project Management team and key stakeholders to deliver the successful construction of projects headed up by the role.

Qualifications needed:

  • Degree in Engineering or equivalent qualification or demonstrable experience applicable to the role
  • Qualified to first degree level, or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline
  • Full clean driving license
  • NEBOSH or Equivalent

You will be responsible for:

  • Working within the business functional area to ensure project development and execution is aligned and prioritised to deliver business objectives.
  • Support the input to the project investment management (IRC) process in ensuring timely submission and progression of TARFs at each stage gate and throughout all phases of capital project delivery.
  • Ensuring company governance requirements are followed throughout project delivery.
  • Delivering in line with best standards of project management delivery with predictable outcomes aligned to the business plan.
  • Providing coaching and guidance to the R&IA capital projects team and building and managing meaningful and supportive relationships across the organisation.
  • Resolving and Elevating Concerns or Issues likely to Impact Safety, Cost, Quality or Programme to Project Manager and/or Project Director including attending Weekly Team Conference Call and weekly Construction Progress Review meetings with the EPC Contractor
  • Managing the Employed Consultants (Where Applicable) in respect to Site Supervision on construction sites.
  • Ensuring observations of issues on site are made in a timely manner and recorded within the observation system agreed between the Client and the EPC Contractor.
  • Leading safety across all areas of the business / sites through home safe initiatives.
  • Managing the Quality of Workmanship contributing to the project construction whilst also raising Client (Viridor/MWH) observations on key issues and snags and through liaison with Project Manager and Quality Manager on the outcome of inspections provide assistance is closing out actions with the EPC Contractor

Knowledge needed:

  • Up-to-date evidence of effective project Construction management and effective project portfolio management
  • Strong commercial knowledge of Construction Contracts,NEC3/4 and IChemE forms of contracting
  • Good understanding of the Design, Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Commissioning and handover to Operations process, including applicable legislation.
  • Understanding of UK Contractor market.
  • Sound working knowledge of CDM regulations
  • Knowledge of the construction industry, Contract procurement, environmental legislation, H&S legislation and planning regulations.
