Position: Proposals Manager

Salary: £47,500 - 57,500 + Car / Car allowance + Pension + Health

Region: Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire

My client is seeking a Proposals Manager to join their growing pre-construction department. The organisation is a South East main contractor who has a reputation in delivering high quality schemes ranging from £10M to £200M. The company carry out work across all sectors; however their reputation is strong in the sectors of Commercial/ Mixed-use & Residential.

As the Proposals Manager you would be working within the pre-construction department, alongside a team of designers and bid managers reporting directly to the pre-construction Director - office based in Hertfordshire.

The role:
  • The Proposals Manager is responsible for producing the written and graphical elements of a winning proposal.
  • The role will be responsible for developing and submitting completed proposals to both existing and prospective clients on time and to the highest quality standard.
  • You will ensure that all the client's questions have been answered, to maximise the companies qualitative score, and that the whole response reflects the agreed bid strategy, the proposed solution and the customer requirements - giving the best possible chance of success.
  • Working as part of the central Proposals Team, which serves the UK Construction business, means this is a highly networked role that requires an ability to work under pressure, to challenging deadlines and be flexible to travel around other offices.
  • You will work on bids with contract values that are typically ranging between £10m and £200m.

Key Responsibilities Management Responsibilities:
  • Identify, list, update and monitor all relevant tender portals/ frameworks required to maximise any tender opportunities. Manage relationship/communication with Bid team.
  • Review and interpret client requirements and ensure that these are identified and addressed.
  • Assist in the creation/establishment of a Deliverables Matrix including formulating overall structure of the bid submission before writing starts.
  • Prepare bid timelines and produce/ communicate/monitor/report against a comprehensive bid action plan to drive opportunity through a structured, robust work winning process.
  • Coordinate the internal flow and support internal and external stakeholders in the development of responses; support bid teams to ensure that proposal documentation is consistently of a high quality.
  • Produce or support production of proposal -specific and other collateral appropriate to tender phase i.e. CV library, project factsheets, best practice case studies etc.
  • Participate in proposal reviews; manage resources to ensure effective and timely document production (including design and print).
  • Review submission text produced, introduce an effective review process.
  • Compile all information and complete all forms and documents required to submit a proposal to a professional standard in accordance with the brand.
  • Coordinate and ensure the delivery of compliant, professionally produced proposals within customer defined time-frames.
  • Work with bid teams and business development functions on pitch and marketing material
  • Seek customer feedback both internally and externally, support the development of libraries of common information.
  • Share best practice / lessons learnt.

Experience & Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, English or related field, or five or more years of work experience.
  • Five or more years' experience within similar role and industry
  • Proficient in MS Office. And Adobe Creative Suite software package is desired.
  • Skilled at setting priorities and managing work pressures
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail
  • Flexible working attitude, with a 'can-do' team player approach
  • Have the ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines and communicate and influence at senior levels
  • APMP, CIM or another Professional Memberships are advantage but not essential
