£40,000 - £50,000 Dependant on experience

My client is a market leader in the design and build of Hybrid offsite engineered structures principally using precast concrete, Insitu concrete, and structural steelwork.

A Quantity Surveyor vacancy has opened up within my client's Commercial department, as a result of new projects in their pipeline of work.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious Assistant QS or Intermediate Surveyor who is ready to step up to the next level with the support of my clients experienced team.

This role is based at my clients Head Office in Tamworth however the position will involve travel to their construction projects at least once a week. Despite a good presence in the Midlands, their projects are nationwide, so the chosen candidate needs to be flexible with travel.

Essential requirements for the role:

  • At least four years of quantity surveying experience within the construction industry
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Good knowledge of construction contract law
  • Graduated or undertaking a BSc in Quantity Surveying, or similar
  • Good sound knowledge of Office 365 Software, particularly Excel
  • Clean, valid UK driving licence
  • Previous experience of working for a Main Contractor.
  • Valid CSCS Card
  • Experience of both NEC and JCT contracts


  • Assist with supplier selection, analysing competitive offers, and helping to ensure the chosen supplier has the appropriate skill set and capability to deliver the works.
  • Place orders, ensuring that such order documentation provides access to all the required information for the supplier to undertake their work without putting at jeopardy any of the terms, conditions or obligations agreed
  • Responsible for supplier/sub-contract commercial management including variation accounts and processing of requests for payment.
  • Attend external and internal project related meetings, recording all actions, agreements and any unresolved matters
  • Recording and tracking of progress by internal departments and external suppliers/subcontractors in relation to agreed project programmes
  • Change management control - Identification, communication, costing and assist with resolution of agreed scope of works
  • Measure, value, submit and negotiate contract variations with the client and supply chain as necessary
  • Communication and liaison with clients in relation to all of the project's commercial matters, including the provision and production, in a timely manner, of all necessary information and substantiation of valuations, final accounts and retention release ensuring receipt of such payments in accordance with the agreed contract.
  • Completion of a monthly cost / valuation report and cash flow for each designated project.
