Job description

PSR Solutions are currently looking for a Quantity Surveyor we are looking for a QS around £300 day rate who has basic QS competence plus a decent amount of energy and focus. Lower level required - Not Commercial Manager/MQS Level (and years of SQS experience).

Start Date: ASAP
Duration: 3 months - this is very likely to be extended.
Rate: Up to £300
Notice: 1 week
Base Location: Liverpool
Must be flexible as some travel required to other sites namely Newport (travel to sites away from base location will be expensed.

Rail Engineering Services and Technologies business operating out of offices located in the South East, Midlands and North of England. The Overhead Line Electrification (OLE) design office is based in Liverpool providing OLE Design and professional engineering services to Rail Electrification projects to internal and external customers in the UK and overseas.

The Role

Reporting to the Senior Quantity Surveyor, the Quantity Surveyor will provide commercial support to the Overhead Line Engineering design business in accordance with Commercial processes. The QS will be simultaneously supporting multiple project managers with contract values of up to £15m in an innovative and high value-added environment. Your permanent location will be in Liverpool, though the role will involve some travel to customer and other sites in the UK. Chiefly this will be South Wales for the first 12 months. Travel and lodging costs will be covered for work away from base location.

Specific Duties

Adherence to Commercial Procedures, more specifically:

General Minimum Commercial Expectations
Gated Lifecycle
Ensuring on time payment in line with contractual entitlement
Customer interfacing on all commercial matters, including:
Change control submissions, monitoring and settlements
Customer correspondence
Final account administration and settlements
Post contract award commercial support to individual project managers and projects
Pre contract commercial activities
Subcontract procurement and management
Preparation of Monthly project reports and commercial input at Gate 6 reviews
Contractual documentation management
Risk Management

Desirable candidate would possess

2-3 years' experience with Tier 1 rail contractor or infrastructure providers (eg: NR, TFL)

Looking to progress a long-term commercial career within following the Commercial development programme.
Quantity Surveying Degree Educated.

Desire to work towards professional accreditation (eg: RICS, ICES).

Subcontractor management experience in Civil Engineering sector

A positive can-do attitude to customer service, problem solving and meeting deadlines
