Key Experience
  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Management or equivalent with relevant practical experience;
  • Extensive infrastructure experience, including civil engineering and rail;
  • Previous Main Contractor or Sub Contractor experience;
  • Ability to manage a large portfolio of projects or framework;
  • Proven experience mentoring, developing and upskilling a team;
  • Able to produce and present board level reports;
  • Strong collaboration and influencing skills. Able to develop effective working relationships with members of the project management team and client;

The Role

Reporting into the Regional Programme Manager, this is a key role where you will be responsible for the commercial management of stand-alone projects and framework contracts. Managing a team including MQS, Senior, Intermediate and Assistant Quantity Surveyors, your responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
  • Primary responsibility for negotiating contract changes, ad hoc agreements, claims and variations, as well as monthly applications for payment and final accounts, processing of letters of credit, export credit guarantees, etc, in conjunction with the project management team.
  • Responsible for all external negotiation in respect of variations to achieve commercially advantageous outcomes within delegated authority
  • Provide support and advice to the project management teams on matters such as contract compliance, contract awareness, contract change management, claims, variations, legal and financial matters.
  • Establish and maintain interfaces with key internal and external clients
  • Identify, communicate and manage through to completion, scopes of work to be undertaken.
  • Maximise project and business profitability throughout the project lifecycle delivered through professional commercial management
  • Agree and deliver an effective commercial management strategy with the project management team
  • Identify, negotiate and manage sub contractor procurement process
  • Manage the commercial risk review systems
  • Provide commercial reports as required
  • Ensure all commercial processes and document control complies with the appropriate company standards and governance
  • Manage contract administration in accordance with the contract
  • Maintain complete commercial contractual records
