Position: Senior HSEQ Advisor

Location: Lichfield, West Midlands

Sector: Commercial Build

Salary: £35,000 - £48,000 + Car/Car Allowance + Pension + Health



My Client is looking to recruit a Senior HSEQ Advisor to join their H&S Department. The organisation is a Regional main building contractor but this role will be within the West midlands region.

My client has a reputation in delivering high quality schemes ranging from £1M to £40M. The company carry out work across all sectors; however, their reputation is strong in the Education, Student accommodation and Health care sectors.

The main purpose of the role is to be responsible for the co-ordination and provision of all H&S support to the Central Business Unit. This task will be carried out in a manner wholly consistent with company policies without compromise.


Duties:

Report to HSEQ Manager regarding all H&S matters.
  • Manage external site auditors.
  • Advise all management and staff on proactive methods of safe working, efficient environmental management and adherence to quality systems.
  • Responsible for the attainment of the pertinent H&S accreditation's.
  • Manage/stop any operation where the activity poses a serious risk to health & safety.
  • Representing the company to external auditors and legal bodies.
  • Performing internal site audits, where required
  • Ongoing coaching and advice to site employees.
  • Carrying out H&S training where appropriate.
  • Ensure that all incidents of non HSEQ compliance, accidents or dangerous occurrences are investigated and recommendations made to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Assisting in the implementation of the environmental management system at HQ and all construction sites.
  • Develop and maintain professional working relationships with relevant legislative authorities.
  • Contribute to pre-qualification and tender responses as required.


Candidate Profile:
  • Experience of complex construction projects from an overall perspective
  • Recent, up to date knowledge and relevant experience in construction, particularly new build and refurbishment
  • Able to deal with effectively with multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience of people management
  • Understanding of relevant HSEQ legislation.
  • Qualifications (Essential)
