Job description

Role: Senior Quantity Surveyor

Location: East Midlands

Client: A leader in residential construction for projects across the Midlands including New build for private sale to Social Housing refurbishment on behalf of local authorities.

Project: 2 care homes blocks in East Midlands with a value of £13m, Phase 2 of the development consists of a mixture of 2 & 3 bed houses and apartments to form part of an exciting £100m regeneration programme which will see retail units, coffee shops, parks and a primary school reinvigorate the local area.

Role: Split between office and site with a visiting contracts manager and Design Coordinator. Site team will consist of a Project Manager or Senior Site Manager who will always remain on site.

Responsibilities include;

  • Control all expenditure
  • Reconcile cost/value reports and profit forecasts
  • To assist the Contract Manager with pre-start planning and programming
  • Sub-contract procurement and commercial management
  • Management and control of sub-contract accounts and variation accounts
  • Assisting and liaising with the buyers on materials procurement and buying opportunities
  • Assist the Contract Manager with subcontractor selection and ensure the chosen subcontractor has the appropriate skill set and capability to deliver the works. Place the appropriate order and all required information to carry out their work
  • Measure progress, submit valuations, submit final accounts and retention release and monitor receipt of payment in a timely manner in accordance with the contracts
  • Completing a monthly cost / valuation report and cash flow for the designated projects
  • Attend project and company related meetings
  • Ensure the company is neither compromised nor disadvantaged by an contractual or financial arrangement
  • Manage the costs on a project to ensure both the company and the client is fully advised of the cost situation
  • Ensure timely cash flow management for the Client and the group, and the supply chain
  • Assisting the development and training of trainees and assistant surveyors
  • Maintain and develop professional relationships with the Client, to help future business development

Experience within Care homes and Social housing new build is essential.
