Job description

Role: Senior Quantity Surveyor

Area of work: Civils - Highways/Marine/Rail

Reporting to: Senior Commercial Manager

Location: Bristol (and South West)

Package: up to £60,000 + Car Allowance + Pension + Healthcare

The Client

My client are a leading Building and Infrastructure business who work in an array of sectors across the UK and Ireland, they have a long-standing history in delivering large scale projects and a turnover exceeding £800Million. They are an instantly recognisable name in the built environment and have an order book full of interesting and noticeable schemes across the region, their employees are among the best in the industry and benefit from real progression and development within the organisation.

Due to expansion, my client are looking to add a Senior Quantity Surveyor to manage their interests in the South West region. The right candidate will take on a scheme which incorporate both JCT and NEC forms of contract with more Civils works in their pipeline across the region. The right candidate will also report in to the Senior Commercial Manager and have the opportunity to progress in to a Commercial Manager role with the inevitable growth of the business in the region.

General Responsibilities

  • Price/forecast the cost of the different materials needed for the project
  • Prepare tender documents, contracts, budgets, bills of quantities and other documentation
  • Track changes to the design and/or construction work and adjusting budget projections accordingly
  • Procure or agree the services of contractors and/or subcontractors who work on the construction of the project
  • Measure and value the work done on site
  • Liaise with the client and colleagues; including Site Managers, Project Managers and Site Engineers

The Right Candidate

  • Experience in NEC (A&C) and JCT (2016) forms of contract is ideal
  • Knowledge of Civil Engineering projects including; Highways, Defence & Marine is advantageous.
  • Demonstrable experience in working on schemes in excess of £10Million in value.
  • Team player who promotes and protects the interest of the business at all times.
