Job description

Due to continued growth, a significant increase in the value of projects and our forward order workload, we are now looking to recruit a Site Engineer whom will be responsible for providing an accurate setting out and recording service on all Projects. The role will provide direct support to the Operations Manager & Contracts Managers.

Company is a privately owned independent, regional contractor, specialising in many sectors such as Airports, Buildings, Costal and Rivers, Defence, energy, Public Realm, infrastructure, steel frames, bridges, waste and water.

Purpose of Job
  • To provide an accurate setting out and recording service on all Projects.


The Role
  • Ensure Setting out Equipment is properly maintained and calibrated in accordance with the Company's procedures.
  • Request the appropriate information from the Technical Department or Contracts Manager Maintain a file of setting out information, calculations, surveys etc. for each project.
  • Extract setting out data from drawings (electronic copy) prior to arriving to site.
  • Checking of base stations prior to commencement of works and at regular intervals during the currency of each project which.
  • Written Confirmation of known base stations is required from the Client / Principle Contractor before commencing works must be signed off by the Client.


Principle
  • Contractor before commencing works.
  • Communicate setting out & control information to the Site Team clearly.
  • Carry out pre-start surveys prior to any excavation works.
  • If required record dimensions of hard break out, soft spots etc. and inform the Contracts


Manager
  • As-Built recording
  • Ensure all reinforcement has been installed as per drawings prior to pouring.
  • Record any instructions to confirm any changes to setting out information.
  • Engineers need to be mindful of the contract programme.
  • Report any safety/quality/environmental incidents or non-conformances to the Contracts


Manager
  • Ensure work is delivered snag & defect free.
  • Comply with Company Procedures.
  • Accurate and timely setting out of the works.
  • Report to the Contracts Manager of ongoing issues keeping him informed of any potential project problems that could affect the business.


The Person
  • Must live within a one hour commute of our Head Office in Hemel Hempstead.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience with a proven track record within the Piling and or RC Sector.
  • To have experience of a variety of projects and clients
  • Good levels of experience at both pre and post contract stage would be a benefit.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, being able to relate to people at all levels in an organisation and to establish and maintain respect both professionally and personally.
  • Should be robust and resilient, possessing drive, determination and natural enthusiasm as well as being a team player.
  • Must have excellent time management skills, being able to effectively prioritise against deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Open to new ideas, not set in their ways, able to think laterally.
  • A balanced approach to relationships with colleagues, staff, clients and suppliers alike.
  • Forceful and persuasive but able to listen and communicate effectively.
  • Must be loyal to the company and the Group.
  • Proficient in the use Autocad.
  • Proficient in the use of a one man robotic total station
  • Proficient with the use of all other setting out and survey equipment
  • Ability to produce detailed programmes using Asta Project would be advantageous
