Position: Site Manager (Number two on site supporting the site based Project Manager)

Location: Solihull, West Midlands

Sector: Commercial Build

Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 + Car or Car Allowance + Pension + Health



Are you an ambitious Site Manager who would be interested in joining a very successful, Top 20, midlands based, main building contractor?

My client is seeking a Site Manager. The organisation is a National main building contractor working on a regional basis. The business has a reputation in delivering high quality schemes ranging from £5M to £100M. The company carry out work across all sectors; however, their reputation is strong in the sectors of high rise Apartments, Student Accommodation, Industrial and out of town retail.

As a Site Manager, you will report into the Project Manager on site. You will be employed to prepare sites prior to the commencement of construction work (to set out the site and organise facilities), to plan projects and ensure that they meet agreed specifications, budgets and timescales and to oversee building work.


Duties will include:
  • Liaising with clients and reporting progress, professional staff (such as architects and surveyors) and the public
  • Supervising contracted staff
  • Meeting subcontractors
  • Making safety inspections and ensuring construction and site safety
  • Checking and preparing site reports, designs and drawings
  • Maintaining quality control procedures
  • Motivating the workforce
  • Problem solving
  • Using specialist construction management computer applications


Candidate Profile:
  • Building / Construction background
  • Previous experience in a similar number one site manager role
  • Significant supervisory experience
  • Able to maintain a positive and safe working environment for site based staff
