Job description

This expanding, residential developer are known for building high quality homes for the private, affordable and luxury market in the London and the home counties. With a healthy land bank this makes them one of the most sought after contractors in London and home counties.

The Role:
  • Management of the external design team and specialists
  • Arrange, co-ordinate and manage all DTM meetings with other departments in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring all relevant action points are noted and recorded.
  • Review and scrutinise design drawings and details for compliance, build ability, VE options throughout all stages of the design process
  • Prepare and distribute project specifications.
  • Receive, co-ordinate and check specialist subcontractor and supplier information
  • Attend specialist supplier and subcontract meetings as required.
  • Manage the distribution of prelim. ConDoc information internally, addressing department feedback, and producing a high quality, fully co-coordinated ConDoc package.
  • Ensure Building Regulations and Warranty conditions are cleared without delay to the project and without risk to the business.
  • Resolve design and building problems, contacting relevant personnel and consultants as appropriate.
  • Attend and report at monthly site Project Review Meetings
  • Liaise with Planning, Commercial, HA, Sustainability and Sales Departments.
  • Manage changes to the ConDoc information through the Company's VO process
  • Provide Site support and responses to technical RFI
  • Organise/procure EPCs, and other pertinent technical information that may be applicable
  • Liaise with H&S manager, assist in the preparation of the pre-construction information plans, F10's and Health and Safety documentation and method statements.
  • Prepare Operations and Maintenance Manuals incorporating a Health and Safety File for hand over to Management Company and/or Housing Association.
  • Comply with Company contracts, regulations and administration systems in force at the time.
  • Keep up to date with correct building products and techniques, current building regulations and relevant supplementary legislation that may impact the performance of the required duties.
  • Conduct him/herself in a manner which will not jeopardise or adversely affect the Company's operations.

Skills and Experienced Required
  • Good strong knowledge of the development/technical design process.
  • Strong proven knowledge of detailed design for residential schemes utilising different forms of construction, including RC frame and timber frame
  • Be able to question and query design information across all disciplines
  • Architectural background. Ability to use AutoCaD beneficial.
  • Sound understanding of statutory requirements, including Building Regs. NHBC Standards, and Sustainability, with an ability to interpret and negotiate compliance
  • Be able to understand and interrogate design and project programmes, in particular identifying Critical Paths.
  • Educated to degree level or in possession of a relevant professional qualification.
  • Able to communicate with all disciplines at all levels.
  • Well organised and capable of organising others.
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Able to manage people, processes and time.
  • Strong team player who can communicate effectively.

The Person:

The successful candidate will ideally have experience working for either a main contractor or developer with experience in RC frame residential housing or apartment schemes.
