Trainee Quantity Surveyor

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for a school leaver/someone seeking to study a part time degree whilst working as a Trainee Quantity Surveyor. Reporting to a Surveyor/Senior Surveyor or Managing surveyor, and at times other heads of departments during the training process you will assist with the day to day financial cost control and reporting of one or more developments from the time the company are awarded the project up to and including completion of client and sub-contract final accounts, recovery/discharge of all retentions and completion of archive material. Working on property refurbishments and new build you will gain a wealth of experience and hands on training.

You will assist in project cost-control procedures including re-measurement of works/variations, inventories of stock and evaluation of the interim/final accounts. Assisting in and obtaining an understanding of effective management of cash, including careful administration of allocated sub-contractor accounts as directed by your manager, assisting in the compilation of general records, site information and subcontractor payment information, health and safety and much more.

You will work with the different teams that make up residential construction projects from new build to refurb including design and the supply chain.

Applicants should have excellent communication skills, a strong willingness to learn, be good at working under pressure, pro-active, enthusiastic, have a minimum of 6 GCSE's grade C and above including English and Maths, 2 A levels graded C and above or College achievement graded merit or above and ideally some experience in a relevant field though this is not a pre-requisite, you should be able to demonstrate a passion for housing and developing you career as a Quantity Surveyor.
