This year’s summer conference was all about making a change to healthy living habits, which leads to a good state of health, both psychically and mentally.
The past twelve months has seen yet more developments at PSR with the opening of the Shirley and Southampton offices, the addition of twenty-five new team members and now the introduction of the PSR Wellness Programme.
Aimed at supporting more than just a healthy lifestyle and diet, our wellness programme is designed around five key factors to achieve a better way of life:
The Conference -
In line with our wellness programme, the setting for this year’s summer conference was in the picturesque Peak District in Derbyshire for an intense day of orienteering.
Before tackling the 6-mile course, Managing Director James Sanders addressed the ever-growing work force about the team’s current performance in the working year and welcomed the newest members to PSR.
Concluding his business update, James spoke about a particular recruiter within the business that continually performs and replicates PSR’s high standard of service.
After joining the PSR family in early 2014, Billy Connolly quickly understood and grasped the art of recruiting. Billy is regarded as one of the most likeable recruiters at PSR and continually performs to a phenomenal level, which is recognised by all those involved at PSR. Because of this, it was announced that Billy had been promoted from Recruitment Consultant to Senior Recruitment Consultant.
Group Development Director David Berks then followed on from James, officially launching the PSR Wellness Programme. David expressed that the Wellness Programme was more than just sticking to a healthy lifestyle and diet:
‘Wellness is an active process of becoming aware of and making choices toward a healthy and fulfilling life. Wellness is more than being free from illness, it is a dynamic process of change and growth.’
‘We have put in place a programme to support our staff in their Journey to Wellness.’
‘We truly believe in supporting our staff and the PSR Wellness Programme aims to focus on all aspects from Physical to Psychological.’
To achieve an effective programme at PSR, we reached for professional support from Richard Courtney, a specialist in human performance.
Richard is an expert in what affects our body’s mentally and physically, as well as what action can be taken to improve our overall wellbeing.
Teambuilding -
A light lunch followed the conference before the teams headed to the starting point for the orienteering challenge, where upon arrival teams were debriefed by the instructors before assigning all team leaders specific routes to complete the orienteering task.
With a time-limit of two hours, teams scampered off to channel their inner Bear Grylls and conquer the East Midlands terrain.
Once the gruelling two hours were up, the winner of the orienteering was announced as Tom Bill's team, who were the only group to complete the course in under the two-hour time limit.
All staff were in good spirits on completing the task and many were pleased with yet another successful conference held by PSR as Joni Spittle expressed: ‘This is why I enjoy working at PSR so much, they bring fresh new ideas to the table all the time’.
‘Two years ago, it [summer conference] was an obstacle course, last year it was supporting Katherine House [local charity] and now this year orienteering.’
