Not only are apprenticeships becoming increasingly popular with the younger generation and those looking to kick start their career, but many businesses throughout the UK are investing more in apprenticeship programmes helping them achieve their corporate social repsonsibility goals as well as improving producitivity and their quality of their product or service*.
We know first hand how important apprentices are to a business and in eight years we have successfully recruited over 15 apprentices throughout all our offices, with Build a Career placing five of these since they were established in 2019.

Grace joined our in-house finance team at the start of 2022 where she secured an AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting. Grace will continue to complete a number of different apprenticeship programmes, from Level 2 up to Level 7, which will fulfil her goal of becoming a chartered accountant.

“I chose an apprenticeship because it allowed me to look into all aspects of finance both payroll and credit control. It's provided me with better knowledge of my job role and the company" Grace explained.

Many apprentices who join straight after School or College have the opportunity to work for companies with who they can quickly build relationships with and who will suppor their future career.

Grace has already shown to be an invaluable member of the team in her 11 months here. We implemented a new system that makes it simpler for candidates to access and monitor their timesheets, submit any compliance paperwork, and search for job openings that match their skills. Grace embraced the transition and became a "super user" of the system, assisting over 50 consultants in both our London and Southampton offices.

Grace’s consistent hard work hasn’t gone unnoticed within the company and she has been selected to attend this quarter's Directors Lunch, which is taking place on 11th March 2023.

In order to learn more about Grace's role here at PSR Solutions, why she would recommend an apprenticeship to others and some advice she would give other apprentices, we asked Grace the following questions:

How do the skills you learn in your apprenticeship help you in your role?

“I learn more about things such as KPIs, 10-year goals, as well as laws and legislations that apply to accounting.”

Why would you recommend an apprenticeship to others?

I feel like it’s a great way to learn as you put your knowledge constantly into practice as well as having such a good support system.”

What is your favourite part about PSR Solutions?

My journey so far with PSR Solutions has been a huge learning experience that has provided me with a lot of knowledge, confidence and responsibilities. PSR has an atmosphere in which everyone wants to help each other and is treated fairly, not just like a cog in a large system.”

If you could give any budding apprentices a word of advice, what would it be?

“Don’t be nervous and have more confidence in yourself.”
