In line with the 10-year vision set by Managing Director James Sanders in 2016, PSR is pleased to announce the opening of our 5th UK office in Southampton. Construction output in the South of the UK is thriving currently and having already cemented a strong presence in the Midlands, North and London, we now feel it is the right moment for our business to venture to the South Coast and build upon our current relationships in the construction industry.
After careful selection and thorough research, we have appointed what we believe to be a team that can drive our new office to become the most recognised construction recruiter in the south. Spearheading operations for the UK side of the office is newly appointed Regional Director Julian King. Julian’s expertise made him the obvious choice to lead affairs, with over 10 years’ experience of working specifically within the South Coast region.
‘I started my recruiting career in London and quickly moved on to head up operations on the South Coast for my previous employer. Making the decision to stay in Southampton has given me expert knowledge of my region and has allowed me to play a key part in candidate generation for many Clients in the area.’
‘While working on the South Coast I’ve supplied to and been involved with some of the UK’s largest contractors and some flagship developments, notably Admirals Quay in Ocean Village where Bouygues were the principal contractor, we supplied all trades for a period of four years to new apartments and to a new 5-star hotel, also the new extension to West Quay with Sir Robert McAlpine. I’ve also done a lot of work with contractors at the University of Southampton and with national house builders supplying their schemes across the south, where I’ve placed candidates all the way from labourer’s through to director level managerial staff’
‘Our initial objective is to establish the same presence and excellent reputation that PSR has in its respective regions. An office on the south coast will further our presence, establish it as a brand and start supplying labour & trade workers, with some white-collar candidates down the line.’
Julian’s team will be building an array of clients and candidates in the initial months, placing candidates and creating relationships, which will provide more opportunities in the future for the southern regions. He acknowledges the current challenges the industry faces and knows the significance of delivering the best possible service to our clients and candidates, so that they continue using us time and time again.
‘I think like everywhere the shortage of labour in the market is a problem. It’s about delivering a quality service for me. When a recruiter says they’re going to supply candidates, they have to supply and that’s it.’
Julian saw an attraction to PSR which no other recruitment agency possessed and saw an opportunity to be part of something very special.
‘The main attraction was the setup. I liked the look and feel of the company. I liked the professionalism, the focus on team-building, and the employee programmes put in place like the wellness programme. I saw the importance of looking after staff and treating the staff fairly.’
‘It’s a young company, its growing and that’s something I want to be part of.’
PSR’s award-winning construction recruitment specialists are committed to helping each of our Candidates find their dream job and supply our Clients with quality personnel.Contact us in confidence, register or send us your CV and let’s get started.
