Kicking off bright and early, the PSR Solutions 10 Year Anniversary team retreat at Woburn Center Parcs began with new members of the Midlands team meeting fellow colleagues from the London office. There's always a strong sense of community throughout the PSR teams, not to mention a healthy appetite for competition...
The challenge was described as a treasure hunt using submersibles to raise a sunken pirate ship containing £40m in its hull, which is exactly what it was, however, what none of the team knew (not even senior managers) was that it was an indoor team building exercise! Co-founder Mark Palmer acknowledged;
‘I have no idea how we’ve ended up at Center Parcs, one of the largest areas of natural forest in the UK and our treasure hunt activity has taken place indoors!’
10 groups raced to find the sunken ship by solving a series of topical questions and negotiating with other teams to get to the ship first. This became quite a serious exercise, particularly as senior staff were evenly distributed across all teams… who’s the boss?!
As expected, the Center Parcs team made sure all colleagues had a great time, were very helpful and friendly and even got stuck in with the task alongside the PSR team!
After a hearty lunch, Mark Palmer welcomed new recruits Rachel Harris (IT), Luke Hough (Social Media), Alex Sutherland (FM) and Nathan Hancock (M&E) from the Midlands office and Lee Faux (Resi), Matt Shrubsole (Resi) and Steven Ware (Director) from the London office. Mark then congratulated Tom Stevenson (Aftercare Sales Manager) and Rob Gordon (Principal Consultant) on their promotions.
One of PSR Solutions' preferred charities is The Battlefund. Mark also proudly announced that collectively, through a broad range of staff challenges including the Ice Bucket Challenge, Movember and several brave feats of athleticisim and abstinence £9,428 has been raised for this fantastic charity, so far...
Client Relationship Director, David Berks highlighted that 95% of candidates are more likely to respond to InMails and emails if they can identify the brand sending them. Utilising LinkedIn Recruiter is a fundamental part of the PSR Solutions success strategy implementing the Build-Enagage-Recruit mechanism which boosts consultant productivity and increases candidate response rates.
The team were given a walk-through of the 10 years that PSR Solutions has been established, including amusing imagery of senior staff in the early days of PSR.
The new PSR Solutions logo celebrating 10 years was unveiled and was an instant hit amongst colleagues who look forward to wearing the 10 year anniversary badges, allowing the team to really take pride in the PSR brand during client/ candidate visits.
Also unveiled was the opportunity for our recruitment specialists during the coming months to get on board the 2016 elite conference in Ibiza!! A fantastic opportunity for consultants to really drive for results. To assist with inspiration and productivity, the team were shown a highly inspirational video by speaker Gary Vaynerchuk who expounds the concept ‘if you want it.. go and get it!’
Hill McGlynn co founder Steven Ware now Director at PSR Solutions, highlighted his ambitious plans for the PSR London office and its expansion. Steven also spoke on the Dubai office opening in 2016 and the significant contribution that he can make to the success of this new overseas presence for PSR Solutions.
Waterpark madness, fun on the terrifying slides and rapids-racing followed an informative day. Welcome drinks in the evening had a themed dress code of ‘Around the World’ with an amazing turn out of costumes, everyone participated and Steven Ware greeted staff by generously giving them some of his ‘"Gucci roll-on’’, ensuring PSR were the best smelling bunch of recruiters around - something which subsequently went viral around the office and will be a fond memory for all, not to mention his moves on the dancefloor later on! A light-hearted evening followed including a coin-bending magician and a fancy dress BBQ complete with a parade of each employee's effort plus an act, ending with the three worst outfits having to justify to the X-Factor-like judging panel why they had made such a terrible effort! Something the judges may have later regretted as one act got their own back by spraying them with a Châteauneuf-du-Pape-like substance. In keeping with the eco-friendly nature of Woburn Forest, the end of the evening saw the majority of the team cycle back to their lodges on Center Parcs' hired bicycles. Fresh bacon rolls and plenty of hot tea and coffee were the order of the following morning after a merry evening of superb 10 year celebrations - #PSRis10!
