Why PSR & I were the perfect fit

With over six years’ of marketing experience, I have a huge passion for bringing ideas and content to life and a real desire for building and maintaining strong relationships with colleagues, customers, stakeholders, and partners. Over the years, I have predominantly worked within the sporting industry, building up a great portfolio of experience, skills and knowledge that I have been able to transfer over in my role at PSR.

PSR is unlike any other company that I have worked for; they really do care and stand by their values. They see the potential in every employee and give everyone the necessary support and training they need to flourish in their role, allowing them to grow personally and professionally; something I’ve never experienced before.

A BIT ABOUT ME

My mental health started to decline in 2012 and over the last nine years it gradually got worse. Even though I absolutely loved working within the marketing industry, my confidence and self-worth hit rock bottom. Unfortunately, the way I thought and felt about myself outweighed everything else and it slowly striped me of all emotions; I lost who I was. Sadly, the culture of my previous employment didn’t match my values or what I stood for, so in January 2020 I made the bravest decision I have ever had to make… I handed my notice in at my full time job. I needed time to focus on improving myself and getting better.

Fast forward to July 2021, several therapists, mindset books and podcasts later… I’m better than I ever have been; I feel like a brand new person. I owe a lot to the NHS for helping me get back on track, and I must admit the pandemic helped me in ways I didn’t think was possible. Having time away from the world gave me the time and space I needed; my confidence and self-belief started to grow and I am now able to recognise when I need to change my thought patterns. I’m now in control of my thoughts, not the other way around. Being able to write so openly about it just shows the strength I now have and how proud I am to be where I am today.

You can apply your skills and knowledge to any sector, but you have to be happy with the place of work and the people who you work with. You spend more time in the workplace than you do at home after all. Company culture and core values are so important in any organisation, and my previous employment made me realise just how much of an impact it can have on your overall happiness and wellbeing. As soon as I spoke with PSR, I knew they aligned perfectly with who I am and what I was looking for. I truly believe they are the perfect fit and the right company to help me stay on the right path for a better mental health and I’m looking forward to the future… something I’ve not said in a very long time. 

Everyone is like one big family and are all part of PSR’s journey together. Everyone is proud to work here and each individual makes up the jigsaw. I’ve been here one month and I’m already signed up to a training programme to help continue with my mindset and ensure I stay on top of my mental health – and that alone just shows you how much this company cares. They listen to you, understand you, and truly do want you to flourish and become the best version of yourself.
