Senior Site Engineer

I am currently recruiting for a permanent Engineering lead on a project with overall responsibility for other engineers on site, dimensional control, quality assurance and material procurement / management. Working very closely with the project manager in mapping out work in a safe and efficient manner, as well as value engineering proposals.

Requirements

• Completed an engineering related qualification level 4 and above
• At least 4 years of site experience, ideally including a training scheme
• Has completed the training required for a Site engineer (if promoted internally)
• Can demonstrate a similar level of training or experience (if recruited externally or freelance)

Roles & responsibilities

• Take ownership of H&S management on site
• Know and follow company specific procedures
• Take the lead in managing the Service Avoidance Procedure
• Have a "don't walk by" attitude and question unsafe work
• Embrace "DIR" initiatives and set a good example on site
• Competent in setting out / surveying and able to educate others and fault find
• Ensure the engineering resources are directed effectively to get setting out / surveying done
• Ensure the correct equipment is hired / purchased / offhired sensibly and then used and stored with care
• Competent in the use of AutoCAD and able to educate others and fault find
• Take overall ownership of QA
• Know and follow company specific procedures
• Ensure the engineering resources are directed effectively to get QA done
• Have a "don't walk by" attitude and question poor quality work
• Ensure records are properly kept
• Review design drawings and check against specification, contract and preferred details for compliance
• Actively involved in producing weekly maps with the project manager
• Active in planning site logistics around other works
• Active in labour, plant and material resourcing
• Take ownership of material management and procurement, including Q47/48
• Work closely with the Quantity Surveying team to report the material costs properly
• Take the lead on value engineering earthworks and groundworks
• Understand contractual obligations up and down the supply chain
