My week at PSR Solutions: Ruby

As a student in year 10, work experience is an important part of the curriculum in school where you choose a company of your choice, learning about the business and the workplace. 
But, what are the benefits of work experience? Work experience for year 10 students is important because it can be an excellent training ground to prepare you for the world of employment and is a great opportunity to explore possible career options.  

I’d heard great things about PSR Solutions and how they help apprentices and work experience students and wanted to choose this employer as somewhere to gain my experience. With a passion for graphic design, I wanted to explore this more within the marketing and design team.  

PSR Solutions is a Specialist Construction Recruitment Agency and allowed me to explore different departments of the business to give me experience, an insight to how a company works and how the departments work in sync to achieve business goals. 

Within my week work experience, I learnt many things; how fast-paced the recruitment industry is and different departments at PSR Solutions. I started in the marketing team where I explored different aspects of digital marketing within social media then gained an understanding on data protection and how the IT systems work. I then spent time with the Accounts team and learnt about how the business manages data and finances, understanding how money goes in and out of the business and what a crucial part the Accounts team play within the company. Following this, I worked with the Trades & Labour team and spent time with a few different recruiters. I learnt about how you find and place candidates onto a site, how they post jobs onto their website and external recruitment sites, and how they work with the clients to understand their needs and find suitable candidates to match their requirements. 

My time at PSR Solutions has made me realise my passion for marketing and at the end of week I went back to this department to expand my knowledge and create a deeper understanding of graphic design. This experience has also expanded my knowledge on apprenticeships and helped me to understand what potential career path I would like to explore after school.
